Rustie dropped this phenomenal track (amongst many many others) into his essential mix for BBC Radio 1 over the weekend. the whole 4 mins 21 seconds is a thing of Dreams, excuse the pun. not actually far off its ‘jungle footwork’ tag, the hypnotic and futuristic ‘Bloodsport’ has become one of my most listened to tracks of the year so far. the idea of a live version with real drums gets me tingling. the LA producer released his ‘Flyte’ EP earlier this year, and has just dropped another track on his soundcloud.
stripped back piano, minimal instrumentation and gospel-like harmonies all bubble behind a powerful female vocal.. this is ‘Ghosts’, an immense pop song. mesmerising from the first note, the track is only a glimpse into the intriguing world of emerging artist Laura Welsh.
no one ever wants to get too carried away and scream “these are our next great hopes” but The Neighbourhood make it impossible not to. call this hype baiting all you like, you still won’t be able to deny how good they are.
you know sometimes when you’re dancing to a track and you wish so badly it had a ”woooooo!” in it? well, this made me wish and it delivered. one more 17 year old bedroom genius for you all, say hi to Apple Bottom.
well. this deserves the volume on full blast. and the repeated rewinds DJ Target gives on this radio rip. sultry pop at its finest from production duo Star One featuring the vocals of singer/songwriter Sarah Lillie.
imagine this booming out of a bedroom somewhere in Cardiff. Welsh producer Bodhi has combined all the right ingredients and created a brilliant piece of dance music, however you want to label it. i absolutely love when stuff manages to sound ridiculously retro but super contemporary at the same time.
